Custom Explosion Proof Air Conditioners
Not every application fits neatly into a standard product offering. Some installations require unusual mounting, higher capacity, redundant cooling, specialty materials, or integration with blast-resistant or modular structures. That’s where custom fabrication comes in.
We’ve built explosion-proof cooling systems for applications that most HVAC companies wouldn’t know how to quote — and we’ve done it enough times that “custom” doesn’t mean “slow” or “unpredictable.” It means we design and build what your specific installation requires.
When You Need Custom Work
Redundant and N+1 systems — Mission-critical applications where cooling loss means equipment shutdown or damage. We configure two units where one serves as automatic backup if the primary fails. We’ve built fully redundant N+1 10-ton systems and two-stage 20-ton units for space-constrained applications including conex box and tractor-trailer installations.
Stainless steel enclosures — Pharmaceutical facilities, food processing environments, and highly corrosive chemical environments often require stainless steel construction. We fabricate stainless enclosures to meet both hazardous location classification and material compatibility requirements.
Blast-resistant modules (BRMs) — Modular buildings designed to withstand overpressure events have specific HVAC integration requirements. We work with BRM manufacturers to ensure cooling equipment is properly integrated into the module design — mounting, penetrations, and classification compliance.
Non-standard mounting — Rooftop, pad mount, overhead, recessed, or custom bracket configurations that don’t match standard wall-mount or split system installations. If you have a mounting challenge, we’ve probably solved something similar before.
High-capacity systems — Applications above 5 tons that require multiple units, staged cooling, or integration with building management systems. Refinery control buildings, large equipment shelters, and data centers in classified areas often fall into this category.
Existing equipment modification — You already have a unit on site and need it brought into hazardous location compliance. We can modify equipment from any manufacturer — Bard, Trane, Carrier, Lennox, or others — to meet your required classification.
Any Brand, Any Classification
We’re not limited to a single manufacturer or product line. Our independence as a specialist distributor means we can work with whatever equipment best fits your application:
- Any brand of air conditioner can be modified
- Class 1 and Class 2 classifications, Divisions 1 and 2
- Groups B through G (Group A not available)
- Pressurization systems for building-level declassification
- Coated coils for corrosive or coastal environments
If you’re not sure what you need, that’s exactly the kind of conversation we’re built for. Call us and we’ll work through it together.
Documentation for Complex Projects
Custom projects typically come with more demanding documentation requirements. We provide:
- Detailed equipment specifications and modification records
- Test certifications and compliance documentation
- Country of origin documentation (Buy American Act / DFARS compliance available)
- As-built drawings and installation guides for non-standard configurations
- Full documentation packages for government procurement, pharmaceutical validation, and refinery compliance audits
Pricing
Custom work is quoted individually because the variables matter too much for catalog pricing. Simple modifications to existing equipment start in the same range as our standard offerings ($6,700+). Redundant systems, stainless fabrication, and large-capacity installations are priced based on the specific scope.
Call (844) 925-5668 — we’ll understand your application quickly and give you a realistic quote, typically within 24–48 hours.
